Hearts For Hope 5K Run & Walk Set For February 1st In Carlsbad

Participants of all ages are getting ready for the Hearts for Hope 5K Run & Walk which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on February 1st at Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad. Proceeds from the event will be used to help local families endure the financial burden cause by ongoing serious childhood medication conditions.

Check-in for the day's festivities will begin with the registration table for runners opening at 8:30 a.m., leading up to the 5K race's 9:30 a.m. start time. Walkers will be able to check-in at 9:00 a.m. for their 5K which is slated to kick off at 10:30 a.m. For children ages 5-10 years old, there is a fun run scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The event's inspirational opening ceremony will be held promptly at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to the day's races, the event will feature a myriad of other attractions such as a live DJ, various entertainment performances throughout the morning and afternoon, local health & fitness vendors set up around the park, food stands, Zumba demonstrations and a sky jumper dropping in with a 1,500-square-foot flag.

Poinsettia Park is one of Carlsbad's most popular outdoor recreation destinations with 42-acres of space which features ten tennis courts, three baseball & softball fields, a basketball court and multiple picnic areas. Easy to reach and just minutes from the beach, the park is located at 6600 Hidden Valley Road, just east of I-5 in Carlsbad.

The Mitchell Thorp Foundation is a Carlsbad-based non-profit organization that provides comfort and relief to the families of children facing life-threatening illnesses and diseases.
