Rancho Bernardo, California is located about 15 miles north of downtown San Diego, along the Interstate 15 highway. It was developed in the early 1960s and now this community has a thriving economy of its own to complement big city business just south. Rancho Bernardo also has a strong tourism economy anchored by large wineries and a wide variety of fine hotels.

The Rancho Bernardo community is divided among several neighborhoods, where neighbors form relationships by hanging out together at their local park, community center, or country club. The Bernardo Heights neighborhood is divided into 18 different subdivisions, featuring custom homes and apartment complexes. The subdivision is conveniently situated by the Bernardo Heights Community Center, allowing residents access to an Olympic size pool, tennis courts, a basketball court, and a barbecue and picnic area. They also have access to the Bernardo Heights golf course.

Seven Oaks is the area's very first senior community and features single homes and a community center for them to stay active. The Oaks Hills subdivision features mainly townhouses and apartments for senior citizens. It includes The Oaks North Community Center, offering activities such as arts and crafts and dance lessons, along with an indoor pool, an exercise room, and outdoor bowling on the lawn. Residents can also walk to Bernardo Winery and enjoy tastinags daily from 9am to 5pm.

Things To Do in Rancho Bernardo

With so many country clubs and community centers within the subdivisions, residents can partake in almost any activity imaginable from swimming to basketball to even a round of miniature golf with the family at the Westview Club. Children attend the Poway Unified School District, which serves much of San Diego, and specifically go to Bernardo Heights Middle School and Rancho Bernardo High School.

In addition to neighborhood activities, the Ranch Bernardo community hosts RB Live! every June, a street fair complete with more than 300 vendors, carnival rides, and live music.
