Situated in between Chula Vista and National City, the thriving unincorporated community of Bonita is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in the San Diego area. This particular area offers an excellent choice for homeowners who don't want to face the long and arduous commute from outlying areas, yet want to retain all of the advantages of living beyond the city.

To this end, the community offers an excellent suburban respite from the metropolitan area at large without having to live far beyond it.

The community is also well known for its long-standing tradition of equestrianism. Many residents pride themselves on owning and taking care of their horses. As a result, the rural enclave features a number of trails that accommodate horseback riders as well as hikers and other visitors.

Outdoor attractions, including parks and golf courses, dominate the community's landscape. For instance, Sweetwater Regional Park and Sweetwater County Park offer plenty of recreational activities are individuals and families to enjoy. The Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course is perhaps one of the largest green areas within the community. Bisected largely by the Sweetwater River, this unique golf course offers 18 holes of challenging and satisfying golfing.

The Lower Sweetwater Valley is well known for its extensive network of riding trails. Every early autumn, the community organizes Bonitafest, an annual community event that offers a wide range of food, music and entertainment along with crafts and a full-fledged street fair.

    The Bonita Real Estate Market

The vast majority of Bonita consists of housing developments that were built throughout the 1960s up to the 1980s, with plenty of modern houses available.
