Lakeside is a relatively large community that is currently home to nearly 20,000 residents. Located northwest of El Cajon, the community offers a more rural feel compared to other locations in the area, making it attractive to those who enjoy a sensible mix of suburban and rural life. Ever since the area was settled shortly following its purchase by the El Cajon Valley Land Company in 1886, the area has been well known for embodying an "Old West" feel and it's considered a "rodeo town" thanks in large part to its popular rodeo grounds and its numerous ranches.
As the community's namesake suggests, Lake Jennings presents itself as a prominent fixture in the area. Avid boaters and fishers can enjoy a variety of recreational activities out on the water without having to go anyplace else. The area is also the permanent home of the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds.
Due to its largely rural setting, Lakeside is attractive to homebuyers who enjoy living in a rural environment without missing out on any of the conveniences offered by suburban living. Buyers in search of homes for sale can choose among a variety of different styles, from traditional single family ranchers to split-level and multi-story homes featuring Mediterranean, Spanish and neo-eclectic home architecture. Much of the real estate in this area is available at affordable prices, making this location attractive to families that want to set down roots in the community. The presence of several excellent schools and plenty of recreational activities should convince families to make this community their own.
