Deep within the Laguna Mountains lays the small mountain community of Mount Laguna. With only 57 permanent residents, the community definitely earns its well-deserved reputation as a small and relatively cozy locale. Located approximately an hour east of San Diego, the small community offers a rustic, cozy residential experience with an abundance of opportunities for big fans of the great outdoors. At nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, the area receives its fair share of snowfall most winters.
Located on the northeastern edge of Cleveland National Park, Mount Laguna draws in plenty of visitors from around the area and the state. The community is also home to the Mount Laguna USAF Station, which served as the home of the 751st Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron until 1981, when the station was turned over to the FAA and in recent years left largely unused.
The majority of the homes for sale in this close-knit community consist of cabin-style homes that offer plenty of rustic appeal. These homes do a wonderful job of blending in nicely with their immediate surroundings while at the same time offering all of the modern conveniences expected of an up-to-date home. Anyone working in the San Diego will surely have to face an hour-long commute into the metropolitan area, but that's just a small price to pay for anyone who enjoys life in a quiet, rural setting.
