The Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego is located northwest of the downtown area near Mission Bay Park and the neighborhood of Bay Park. This area is divided into four sub-neighborhoods: North Clairemont, South Clairemont, Clairemont Mesa East and Clairemont Mesa West. The area is well known for its scenic views and abundance of greenery. Named after the wife of Carlos Tavares, one of the developers instrumental in creating the post-war subdivision, Clairemont was transformed from vacant land to a bustling neighborhood during the 1950s and 1960s. At the time, the master plan for this neighborhood included several retail outlets, many of which have been redeveloped in recent times.

    Things To Do Around Clairemont

Clairemont offers an abundance of natural scenery and excellent bayside views. Local parks include Mt. Brundage Park, Mt. Etna Park and Olive Grove Park. The main greenspace in the area is Tecolote Canyon Park, an open green space that features a nature center and countless opportunities for trail walking and general exploration. Nearby Mission Beach also offers plenty of things to do on the water and on the beach, from surfing to dances and other activities. The area is also less than 30 minutes away from downtown San Diego, San Diego International Airport and Coronado Island.

Unlike many other neighborhoods within the city of San Diego, Clairemont was designed to take advantage of the terrain, resulting in winding streets and scenic views overlooking Mission Bay on a number of real estate lots. Many of the homes in this area were built in the California ranch style that was popular throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Many of these homes have since been upgraded in various ways, from the installation of new, modern counter tops to brand-new interior decor and appliances.

There are also plenty of homes for sale that have been built in the recent decade, and there are also several condominiums that are available for sale throughout the area. These homes tend to hold their value well, also intrepid shoppers will be able to find excellent deals on real estate in this area.
