Middletown is a neighborhood that is situated northwest of Little Italy and downtown San Diego. This neighborhood is also located west of Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo. However, it's best known for being situated next to San Diego International Airport. The neighborhood itself lies in close proximity to several points of interest and it is also a convenient location for those who work in the downtown area and wish to live as close to the city center as possible.

Many of the homes located in the Middletown area feature a wide array of architectural styles, from Spanish colonial, Spanish eclectic and neo-eclectic to California and Craftsman bungalows. There are also a number of townhomes and condominiums in the area. Some areas in this neighborhood may be a part of a homeowners association, so monthly fees should be included with any real estate purchase if this is the case.

Many of the homes in this area feature relatively high real estate values. Some have been renovated in recent years, with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, new flooring and other upgraded amenities being commonplace. Being in close proximity to the nightlife of the downtown area and the sandy beaches of the San Diego coast should prove interesting for any homeowner who happens to purchase any of the homes for sale in this area.
