Normal Heights is a vibrant and eccentric neighborhood located within the city of San Diego and approximately 10 minutes away from the downtown area. The area is currently home to a vibrant arts community as well as its fair share of dining and entertainment establishments.
The neighborhood is bordered by Adams Avenue to the north, El Cajon Blvd. to the south, Interstate 805 to the west and Escondido Freeway to the east. The area is also bounded by Adams North, North Park, Kensington and Corridor. The area gets its name from the State Normal School, an institution that served as the predecessor to San Diego State University.
Much of the real estate located within the Normal Heights area consists of modestly sized California bungalows, condominiums and other small single-family homes exhibiting Spanish and Mediterranean architecture. Many of the homes for sale in this neighborhood offer vibrant interior decor that reflect the colorful Southern California region.
Some of these homes have also been renovated within the past few months. Home buyers can expect to see modern, energy-efficient appliances along with remodeled living and dining areas. Many of the homes here offer relatively small yards, which is something that potential home buyers should take into consideration before finalizing their purchase.
