American Freedom Festival San DiegoA Tribute to Our Military
Saturday, May 29th aboard the USS Midway Museum in the San Diego Harbor. Country superstar, Ronnie Milsap will headline the event which kicks off at 6:30 pm with an old style country BBQ and concert followed by an after party at 10:00 pm. Proceeds from the event benefit Veterans Village of San Diego, Big Brother Big Sister of San Diego County, The San Diego Armed Services YMCA, United Through Read, and other local charities. Smooth Jazz 98.1 Gaslamp Festival
Saturday, May 29th from 12:30 pm-10 pm. The event will feature 2 outdoor stages hosting some of the top names in Jazz today from Kim Waters to Peter White to Mindi Abair, as well as local artists and bands appearing in more than 25 Gaslamp venues.

The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Dinner Show
Saturday, May 29th. It's a four-course sit-down dinner in which each guest is allowed to choose their own entree. The show is an interactive and improvised comedic murder mystery set in the present day. None of the performers are dressed in costume, but instead are dressed just like everyone else; therefore you do not know who is a part of the show and who isn't.

Victory Nightlife Block Party: Memorial Day 2010
Sunday, May 30th. The House of Blues featuries various local artists, bands and DJs. General admission 21+, tickets are $10 in advance, $20 on the day of event.

For the first time in its nearly 32-year history, Mingei International Museum in Balboa Park will open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day's events will feature live performance of American piano music between 1 and 3 p.m. Selections will include ragtime, music by Fats Waller and George Gershwin, traditional songs and popular standards. Also planned in honor of the holiday is a gift from The Collectors' Gallery Museum store with every purchase of $25 or more. SATURDAY

Balboa Park: Vietnam Veterans of America members will read names of local Vietnam War casualties, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Veterans Museum and Memorial Center, 2115 Park Blvd., San Diego. Also a 7 p.m. candlelight vigil at the San Diego Vietnam Peace Memorial.

Midway Museum: Free public ceremony, 8 a.m., 910 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego. Veterans will present wreaths of remembrance.

Point Loma: Boy and Girl Scouts will place more than 65,000 U.S. flags on grave sites, 10 a.m., Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Vista: American Legion Post 365, 10 a.m. ceremony in the parking lot at Wal-Mart, 1800 University Drive.

SUNDAY

Balboa Park: Second day of the “Reading of the Names” ceremony, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Veterans Museum and Memorial Center. Museum open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MONDAY

Balboa Park: Remembrance ceremony at 7:30 a.m. with Vietnam Veterans of America San Diego Chapter 472, then an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both events at Veterans Museum and Memorial Center.

Coronado: 10 a.m. service hosted by Coronado Navy League, Coronado Military Officers Association of America and VFW Post 2422. Guest speaker will be Adm. Thomas Kilcline, commander of Naval Air Forces. Coronado Star Park, 1121 Star Park Circle.

Escondido: American Legion 149 will host 10 a.m. ceremony, Oak Hill Memorial Park, 2640 Glenridge Road.

Fallbrook: 11 a.m. to noon service, Masonic Cemetery, 1177 Santa Margarita Drive. Guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Col. De Martini

Julian: Observance from 11 a.m. to noon at Julian Pioneer Cemetery, A Street at Farmer Road. Potluck afterward at American Legion Post 468, 2503 Washington St.

La Jolla: Program from 2 to 3:15 p.m., Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial, 6905 La Jolla Scenic Drive South. Plaque presentation will honor the late Army Gen. George Smith Patton Jr. Keynote speaker will be Brig. Gen. Angela Salinas, commander of Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

Lakeside: 10 a.m. ceremony at Veterans of Foreign Wars, Carter-Smith Post 5867, 12650 Lindo Lane. Speakers will be Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Lakeside, and county supervisor Dianne Jacob. Also will include display of Navy helicopter, Marine band performance and refreshments.

Midway Museum: Honor guard, 10 a.m. on the aircraft carrier Midway, 910 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego.

Oceanside: Indoor Mass, 8 a.m. at Mission San Luis Rey Parish, 4070 Mission Ave.

Oceanside: Combined Veterans and Fraternal Organizations of North County ceremony, 10 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 444 Country Club Lane. A light lunch afterward.

Point Loma: Annual Memorial Day Service and Day of Remembrance ceremony, 10 a.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Guest speaker will be Rear Adm. Garry Bonelli, deputy commander of Naval Special Warfare Command.

Ramona: Ceremony at 10 a.m., Nuevo Memory Gardens, 532 Ash St. Flags and poppy bouquets will be placed on all veterans' graves.

Rancho Bernardo: Ceremony from 10:40 to 11:45 a.m. hosted by Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial Association, at Webb Park on Avena Place off Bernardo Center Drive. Will include flag ceremony, the Camp Pendleton honor guard and the Rancho Bernardo High School choir. Speaker will be Army Gen. Robert Abrams, commander of Fort Irwin and the National Training Center.

San Diego: Ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m., El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road.

San Marcos: VFW Post 3795 will host an 11 a.m. service, San Marcos Cemetery, 1021 Mulberry Drive. Potluck afterward at the VFW post, 212 W. Mission Road.

Solana Beach: The city and VFW Post 5431 will host a ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon at the Veterans Memorial in La Colonia Community Park, 715 Valley Ave.

MAY 30

Chula Vista: Veterans Memorial Rose Garden ceremony to honor 10 local service members who died while serving their country. 10 a.m. at Veterans Home of California , 700 E. Naples Court, Chula Vista. Must call to RSVP at (619) 409-7979.
