Visit Local Museums for Half-Price During San Diego Museum Month

During the month of February, the San Diego Museum Council is teaming up with Macy's to put on the 25th annual San Diego Museum Month. Passes are available for free at area Macy's locations that are good for half-off admission to 44 local museums.

Passes can be picked up at any Macy's department store location in the San Diego area. There is no cost to get a pass, and each one is good for up to four people per museum visit. The passes remain valid and can be used for multiple museum visits until February 28th.

There is only a limited quantity of passes available this year, however, so the public is encouraged to pick one as soon as possible.

From the beautiful Japanese Friendship Garden, to the educational Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, the selection of destinations on this year's list is quite diverse. With 44 area museums participating in the 25th annual Museum Month, there is literally something to fit everyone's tastes.

A few of the other locations offering half-off admissions include:

  • Museum of Contemporary Arts San Diego
  • Birch Aquarium at Scripp
  • San Diego Automotive Museum
  • The San Diego Museum of Art
  • USS Midway Museum
  • Oceanside Museum of Art
  • San Diego Air and Space Museum
  • San Diego Children's Discovery Museum
  • California Surf Museum
  • Adobe Chapel
  • San Diego Archeological Center

Since 1989, Museum Month has encouraged local residents and visitors to the area to explore many of San Diego's museums, cultural centers and historical sites. Tens of thousands of passes have been used over the years, with half-priced admission making museum visits affordable for both individuals and families of all sizes.

The San Diego Museum Council is an association made up of museums located allover San Diego County. The Council's goals include raising the public's awareness of local museums and working with the different institutions to increase attendance. Museum Month is one of their biggest events each year, and exposes thousands of extra visitors to a number of arts, culture and science institutions all around San Diego.
